The West Bend Library staff read a LOT of books (that's not what we do all day, but we sometimes wish it was). Check out what we've been reading so far this fall! If a book description tickles your fancy, click its cover to request a copy.
Hannah: The Un-Discovered Islands: An Archipelago of Myths and Mysteries, Phantoms and Fakes by Malachy Tallack (2017)… From Atlantis to Thule to more obscure tales from around the globe, this book documents two dozen islands once believed to be real, but no longer on the map. It is an armchair traveler’s dream!
Emily: Magic for Liars by Sarah Gailey (2019)…This is a fun genre-bending book: part mystery, part fantasy, part romance. If Harry Potter and Women’s Murder Club had a book baby, this would be pretty close to it.
Ryan: Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson (2018) is a YA novel that follows Mila Flores, a teenage Latina who, while investigating the deaths of her best friend and two other classmates, accidentally brings them all back to un-(life) to form a funny, yet moving girl gang.
Terika: Lessons from Lucy: The Simple Joys of an Old Happy Dog (2019)…Comedian Dave Barry realizes that his dog, Lucy, is dealing with old age far better than he is. She has more friends, fewer worries, and much more fun. So Dave decides to figure out how Lucy manages to stay so happy, to see if he can make his own life happier by doing the things she does. Super cute and a fast read!
Susan: Ellie and the Harpmaker by Hazel Prior (2019)…This is a sweet and unconventional book about love and music and the simplicity of the most essential things in life. Sometimes you find love in the most unexpected places.
Mara: Home Sweet Rented Home (2019)…Inject style, personality and comfort into your rented home, whatever your style or budget. Award-winning interiors blogger, Medina Grillo, shares her favorite tips and tricks for transforming a rented space.
